Obviously when the video started I had a sideeye moment, like who goes to school in "MURPHTY" LOL, this aint no damn Nigerian High school! But honestly by the middle of the video, i was charmed by the entire concept, I see what they were going for! The girls in the video were so cute, the dudes had the whole newboyz schtick going on (which i think is adorable), ANd i saw some dougie"ing" and jerkin going on...i love me some o that!

Hey guys...I am on my way to MD for the weekend...Lately I have been spending only my week days in NY and my weekends in MD....funny..this used to be the other way around...but you know wat they say abt living in a place..NY is currently my prison...still love it tho...kinda..

Anyway....on Thursday I went for the launch of Heidi Klum's new line of athletic wear for females...and they made me do an interview...oh lawddddddd!!!! I almost died from fear...I have this fear of public speaking...when I hear myself speaking and I realize the seriousness of the occasion...I just begin to say rubbish...and I can hear myself and in my head I am like wtff!! get it togetherrr!!! And I don't :( I hope the interview never comes up anywhere...I dont want to embarrass my parents :(

Aside from that the event was really nice...lots of drinks, a perfomance by some dancers, I got to see the models from project runway again and the designers too, and we got to watch PR on a huge screen...I still cringe when I see myself on TV..you see I will never get used to this...NEVER!!! Abby, Ify and I had a lottttt of fun :) Good times....however since we are nothing but hungry children :) we ended up going to Tao for din din after the event...YUMMMY! and we bumped into Nelly and Ashanti... *side eye to Nelly and Ashanti who are currently denying a relationship*....just tell the truthhh! lol....and then we went to One Oak later and enjoyed a perfomance from Chris Breezyy...Nelly and Ashanti were there too...hmmmmmmm *side eye*

Cant wait to get back home and watch sonny with a chance with my awesomest sistterrr!!! woohoooo!!!!

THIS IS LIKE 4 MONTHS LATE!! But we are Back!!

We gave ourselves a challenge to make outfits in a week...challenge really was to get ourselves off our lazy bums and DO SOMETHING! Luckily for us, Ozzy's mom sent her a trunkload of Ankara fabric, Now yall know we have Never used african print in our clothes BUT its so IN right now, plus it was about to be summer and the thought of running around in some casual ankara printed tops and skirts was heavenly! Lord knows i love cranberry but Honestly Life and other shit often gets in the way of your intentions! But before i digress, I want to POST our cranberry challenge. ALL pieces were made by Oz, Abby, Jo and I and were sold immediately (to Kaven's lil model friend's lol). It was fun to work with the girls again, it was fun to shoot and it was fun to style. The other girl in the video is Ify Jones, our gorgeous pal.

Hey Ladiess!!!! How are you...I think I have a sore throat..and its awful....I feel like Im 2 seconds away from gettin an equally awful cold....boooooooo!!! I hate it sooo muchh.....Today is Friday and I hear the game should be on....not the game game..the game with Tia Mowry :) I can't wait..I absolutely lovvvvee that show!!!

Soooo....I was going to talk about Julian Louie today but I saw the Chloe collection and I got side tracked...lol...so I'll talk about that later...if I remember :) Anyway...this collection..ohmigod...I think its great!!! The clothes are so glamourous but not in a fighting way..lol...easy glam! I especially loved the velvet jumpsuit...Ok first of all...I am really not a big fan of jumpsuits...whenever I think of a jumpsuit I think of leopard print and lycra...yeeeshhhh! Nightmares....but yeahhhh...these jumpsuits were greatt!!!!

Alright...so....the collection is described as a soft version of the 80s...and I can see exactly why... there were big blanket coats, high waisted fluid pants...which I loved of course, pleated pants! lovely!! and flowy dresses and skirts...which were just divine!! This is the rest of the collection..lemme know what you think!!!

I also love the shoes...The boots (The black one with the shorts and blanket coat) remind me of my mom in the 90s...lol....she was fashionable back theeeeeeeeennnn....and she lived in Paris sooo yeah...hahahahhahhaa....anyway tell me what you think....Right now I soooo hungryyyy and Ive been watching the food channel while blogging :( I know..not the best idea....

First things first, can someone explain to me the stalkerific concept of twitter? Is it really just facebook-status-updating on E? I'm terrified that I am becoming old, and my generation is of Hi-5 and facebook, and twitter is to me as facebook is to them, some new unexplored mystical terrain...HELP!!!!!

Moving along...I have been MIA, apologetically so, I just find it challenging to commit to the blogging thing, I've never been able to write under pressure :) Also I'm working on my senior thesis as its my last semester at Parsons (yippppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!) and I have to create a good enough portfolio to plunge into the working world (GULP). Anyways, just a little bit of what I have been up to:

No, that picture is not up there because of my FORMER love affair with the magazine. I actually Interned for 2 weeks at the teenvogue fashion closet.... *insert shy face* ---> and then I quit. Lets just say fashion is a great and fantastic and fabulous from the outside...WAY outside :).. (i,e, on MTV watching the Hills in the comfort of my bedroom!!) No, noone was particularly nasty or mean, it was just like walking on broken glass....unspeakable pressure (Running into Anna Wintour at the elevator and not knowing if I should reference devil wears prada and wait for the next elevator like a humble minion), and working from 9am in the morning till 10pm at night? NO ma'am! Plus, I really had to re-evaluate the fabulousness of saying I worked at teenvogue as opposed to the practicality of getting a proper design internship and in the end, good sense won over ego....was an intimidating and interesting experience while it lasted though!!!!!!!

So who else got thrills up their spine when Beyonce performed at the Oscars (If you're a B hater, you know the drill)...i just love my BEYONCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish she would star in a broadway production, it would suit her so much better than movies in my O...

So NY fashion week has come and gone (thank GOD, nothing worse that seeing models roaming the streets and lusting after the tents from afar, plus clubs + lounges acting EXTRA brand new), i think in this so called recession, the last thing on peoples minds/wallets is luxury fashion and it definitely took a hit this year (lots of designers pulled out, most opted for smaller venues and hardly any celebrity appearances (i guess they must pay them to appear??) except the diehards like kanye who were working overtime LOL! Anyway here are a few of my fave looks!(click to make em bigger)

Lately for some reason Ihave become very interested in all American fashion -- Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Coach, Micheal Kors..I have no idea why but I really want to work at one of those places! I love their silhouettes, and maybe its cos everyone is hopping on Europe's d***, it just kinda played itself out. I think Reem Acra is absolutely to die for (Anyone see Halle at the essence launch..i dont know if its the dress or that figure but either way she worked the hell out of it!). Erin Fetherston always amuses me with her little Alice in Wonderland-esque collections, but somehow she manages to pull it together in such a dreamy like fashion & its so pretty and feminine. She kind of looks like her clothes lol. Rodarte for me are a complete mystery, I dont know how they tap into their brand of genious, its like they put their fabric in a blender!!! But somehow they always manage to make it work amazingly. Their clothes are actually becoming more and more wearable too.

While the shows didnt hold much in terms of Wow-zers or shockers this year, the one thing that the child embedded not too deeply in me was completely enthralled by was the barbie 50th anniversary collection by various designers and their interpretation of barbie... I loved it!!! fab fab fab..if there is one universal style Icon (remember primary school bringing your barbies to school after exams...what little black children with nappy hair had in common with blonde be-weaved oyinbo barbie I will never know) its BARBIE!!!!! YAY!

ps. And i threw in that ridiculous Ken looking man..can someone say SCRUMPTILICIOUS!

Anyhoo, I will try and blog more often, I just ordered a ship load of fabric from Nigeria and I cant wait for it to get in!! Cranberry is officially back in the swing of things!!!!!!

Hey ladies....Can't believe its Monday..AGAIN!!! I miss the weekend..its the best time of the week....sigh...Anyway..check out 4aces to find out what we did this weekend..(I know I am shamelessly blog plugging but heyyif not here where else???) Anyway I ran into this pic of Kanye West and his new lady love or arm companion Amber Rose (I think she looks really cool btw) and I got to thinking about how much Denim a person can really wear...hmmmmm...I always feel kinda crazy when I pack on denim...like whenever I wear jeans I try not to wear my denim jacket or when I AM wearing my denim jacket I opt for a different material beneath. What do you guys think...Is it weird to errr...be "over denimed"? Or Is it just normal? Any way here I am I guess being "over denimed"...this jacket has to be like one of my fav jackets cus I got it ages ago ( and I mean AGES AGO) from FCUK and I recently found it...but yeah what do you guys think? Would you wear this amt of denim at once or do you think its a no no???

Hey guys!! I just woke up and I am hella hungry...you know when you eat a huge dinner and go to bed, you wake up really hungry....it really sucks and I am suffering the effects of it....I HATE IT....cus I'm too lazy to stand up and get something to eat...

But yeah today I'm featuring one of my role models...she has been featured on this blog sooo many times...cus we just love her...her style is soo sick and last christmas we got to meet her and she is indeed the coolest...trust me....Her name is Arieta Mujay and she is the PR manager for River Island in the UK...She has worked with the likes of Lily Allen, Deola Sagoe, Kelly Rowland, Solange, Alek Wek, Agyness Deyn, Chalya Shagaya, Henry Holland, Liya Kebede just to name a few...

We hung out with her and were present during a photoshoot of hers which of course was such an exciting time for us...the clothes, the makeup, the everything...AHHH! my cup of tea...It was a great shoot...and a wonderful visit and we hope to do it all over again!!!

Trend Watch: Geometric!

Okayyyy....I started blogging about about something different a couple of days ago BUT I didnt finish it...soo BOOO to me...anyway...yesterday I told facebook 25 random things about me and I must say that it was an enjoyable experience...although I found it kinda hard to tag 25 ppl in my note. Anyway....today I discovered that I havent cooked ever since I came back to this country...ohmigosh I am so lazy...I am about to spend all my money ordering food. I don't even know how to work the cooker anymore...ok I kid...but I really havent touched it....it just sits there and I stare at it wondering if it will ever be used again...I really need to go grocery shopping but honestly Giants is too far away.

Yesterday, I was having a conversation with my male friend about buying gifts for guys on valentines day.... I have never bought a gift for a guy...on valentines day...I think its weird....I mean you can do stuff for them but buy them gifts???? errr...thats kinda strange in my book....he wasn't feeling that tho....apparently, he and I guess some other guys feel appreciated when they receive presents...what do you even get them? Like everything is designed for females...sheeeshh...watev...I guess I can send whoever flowers....I hope they like them....

On a sad note...this news bout Rihanna and Chris Brown is really depressing...I couldnt believe it when Doreen called me and told me about it and I still don't want to believe it yet...I really want to hear the inside story before I judge whoever....I do feel Chris Brown's career is suffering because of it....I dont know whether to say poor boy or stupid boy....I guess both of them work in this case...ladies pls don't hit men...cus they r human beings that are stronger than you...and even though I know that men aren't supposed to hit women....lets not provoke them cus you never know what can happen...sad sad sad

So lets see...food, presents, chrianna..err...what am i missing? Fashion!

Sooo Kate Hudson wore the Oscar De La Renta two piece black and white mermaid shaped gown for bride wars premiere and I loved it so I decided to focus on Geometrics. Hey loveeee muffins!
Its been awhile, Its Dee blogging by the way!
Hope everyone is Enjoying their New year and trrrrryyyying to follow their resolutions, I know I have effed mine up already! lol.
Let me get back to where i left off...YES! Halloweeen!! 10 years later...i know..but who cares right?? Gulp!...lol anyway .... woohoo...Oct 31st we patrolled the streets of DC as sasha fierce (oz and I) , Diana Ross(jo), a kitty cat (Abby) and a flower child (Niki). Good times!

Night Deux - We went as Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders!! I love the DCC - Their show comes on during certain seasons on CMT. I watch that show religiously to ooh and aahh over their flexibilty and insane ABS....So we decided to go as the girls of DCC. I must say, wearing that costume was ...quite tough! I envy my liver...the costume is literally panties and a BRA... with sleeves....I spent the first 30 minutes in the party shy as hell!..I have never heard so many SLEAZY comments in my life!...aside from that and most importantly, exhaling was a HUGE problem! so was Eating to my satisfaction ( because you know we had Jollof rice and the works all up in my crrrib!)...lol
This year, i am going as NUN or a teddy bear...haha....All in the name of Halloween.and food....Good times though!

So Valentines day is coming soon... sigh* My first time being single during Halloween...ever!!
I am using this Holiday to weed out the fake ass toasters...TALK IS CHEAP Morrasuckers!!! They Better bring it or get lost!! (please God let them bring it!! loll) ..
On the other hand, my friend is organizing a single ladies night out, which will be fun! ... I hope the ladies coming enjoy being single, because if its a bunch of depressed single ladies, looking around with envy at other couples, i am going to be MAD i paid for dinner on Valentines day.... ...lol..
I hope all you fabulous ladies have someone to sharee, someone to loveeeeeeee!!!! Because there is nothing better than spending that day with the one you love, like, are infatuated with...and so on...sigh***....

I am soo craving Nigerian food right now... The entire weekend has been spent searching for a Nigerian restaurant here in harlem and we havent been able to find any. We did find one in Brooklyn tho but since I have a lazy gene...it has been proving very difficult to find our way there :( so I remain hungry and continue to dream of Jollof rice and assorted meat...which is probably the only thing on the menu that is available....I don't know about you guys but every Afrcan restaurant I have been to has issues with their menus...I went to one in Silver Spring last yr and instead of me ordering my food...the waitress ordered it for me because they had run out of all the other things on the menu...she was like "There's no meat..only chicken and theres only fanta" so I had rice, chicken and fanta....and I swear its like that everywhere...in Birmingham, I went to this Nigerian place and we could only have the asterixed items on the menu and after we chose our food dude comes out of the kitchen and says "Its Monday, no meat".....Funny times yo.

Anywayyy...I got a really nice metallic dress...yayyy!!! it didn't cost too much and it was what I wanted!!! however I have no pics of me in my dress :( ( I didnt take my camera to NY and I am waiting on Abby to upload the pics) but anyway it was hot!! I loved it! The weekend itself was nice...got to see Abby and Ozzy for the 1st time this yr and we just hung out...went shopping (yayyy!)...ate out ( double yayyyy) but didnt see any movies (booo) We took pics too but they are with Abby...oh and it was superbowl weekend too so it was great...I am so happy for the Steelers team and coach Mike Tomlin who is now the youngest coach to ever win a Superbowl...YAYY!!! and he is black too so woohooooo!! in general the weekend was fun and I can't wait to do it again.

So Valentine's day is next weekend...ooooouuuweeeeee.... I wonder what I am gonna get... :) or if im gonna get anything :( hmmm i better be getting something unless theres gonna be some explaining to do!!! hahaahhaha....Anyway..what have you guys planned for Valentines day....i hope everyone has something fancy and exciting to do!! sigh...i wish someone wud just surprise me with a trip somewhere :) hint hint that wud be soo greaatt! On the more plausible side, confessions of a shopaholic is out on the 13th so I guess I shall be watching that whether or not I have a date for valentines day :)

Anyway right now...I am dying of hunger and I have to focus my energy on ordering something from seamlessweb.com...i swear it is like the coolest website in the worlddd!!!check it out guys!!!

It's hard to not love metallic dresses because they turn you from drab to glam in seconds. I am so in love with the Louis Vuitton dress in the picture above...I can already picture myself in it..ahhh! divine!! Makes me want to go out and empty my bank account :( Anyway, this weekend we should be in NY trying to paint it red...hahahaha...Its the first time I'm going to see my girls this year and I'm hoping it will be fun. Heyyyyyy!!

Ok I'm back and I am here to stay. I promise. Pinky promise. Scouts honour. Cross my heart. Hahahaha. I have missed blogging and like always I am sorry. As Ozzy said in her previous err post :) ...we will try to be more efficient with this blog. We would like to thank all the ppl that follow this blog...we lovee yaa...you guys are great and we promise to make this blog more fun for you guys... :)

Anywayyy.....OMFG ...we went to Nigeria this Christmas..yayyyyy!!!! I really really REALLY hate to say this but mehn once I got out of that airplane....I JOAN CAVEN was hit by CULTURE SHOCK! hahahahaha. I mean its not like I didnt live in Nigeria for more than 10 years of my life so what the hell was going on???

First of all there were wayyy too many random ppl just walking around in the airport (we arrived at Nnamdi Azikwe Airport in Abuja) and those random ppl looked like they hadnt slept in ages...meaning they were equipped with blazing red eyes...(oh lawd I hope u guys dont think im insulting Nigeria...i love my country...I sweaaaarrr!!!)

2. I can almost swear that the thermostat in Nigeria is broken cus that heat is not a joke. Abuja was blazing hot like fire...like my eyeballs were POPPING from the heat...sunglasses are a definite MUST in that state.

3. The stench immediately we got out of the plane was memorable. I'm gonna leave it at that...LOL.....I feel WICKEDDD.....but im just reporting how I felt....im being truthful ( New yrs resolution)

4. NEPA!!! In Abuja there was basically light all the time which was great...but in the village we were basically 24 hrs with the gen.

5. You see...we are Igbo and like most Igbo ppl, we just had to be in the village for the holidays...I think its a must for NdiIgbo....but lets just say that I saw things that I didnt have to see....it was a harsh 5 days....and i would just rather forget it. However one thing I didnt mind seeing was the farm where I saw how pineapples greww!!! Okay Im sorry I just didnt know pinepples grew from their crowns?? ( the green tops of the pineapple...hahahha..I dont know what they r called sorry). The ppl in the village are pretty nice tho. BTW..Ive never drank so much Hot maltina in my life. :(

6. The food....its great...like everything tastes so much better....I ate like 5 times a day....the Chinese food is sooo sicckkk!!! I really miss it... and of course SuYA....by the time I was leaving Nigeria...I was actually tired of eating Suya....but that ish is sooooo GOOD!!!!

7. OMFG....everyone uses cell phones now...and I mean everyone....in the village you see ppl at the stream fetching water with their cell phones...hahahahhaha...its awesoooommmeee!!!!

Okay I'm drawing a blank here.....I think thats all I can remember.....I know I sound like one of those annoying ppl that just loveee to hate on Nigeria.....I dont hate it...I love it but I just have to take it one step at a time.....Im going back this yr again but I think I'll just go to Lagos..Las gidi right...hahahahahha...hopefully that trip will be sooo much better....

Happy 2009 everyone!!!! Sorry for the extended leave of absence, but we've all been busy on some vacation or the other, and didn't have time (and in some cases the equipment) to blog!!! How was everyones break? Mine was alternatively stressful & restful, spent it in the sweltering heat of Lagos, eating great food, but suffering untold sufferings lol, im just kidding but seriously tho, Naij is a tad harsh!!!!! I dont think i could move back anytime soon, my mind just isnt ready to re-adjust to accepting certain things and conditions...true story!! I hadnt been back in about 2 years and i was hit with some culture shock, not to mention tht my stomach absolutely refused to keep anything down...ugh! I was excited that Joan and Doreen also went to Nigeria after not being there in almost 8 years!! haha i dont even wanna know.......
Anyhoo, Im still in Lagos plotting my escape, but I just wanted to breathe some life back into the blog, and we will be back with a vengeance soon, but till then Adios!! and hope ure having a great year so far!!! I know i am...hehe

I meet you all once again at the same time doing the SAME thing....on the computer, working on CAD, missing Gossip Girl...sniff sniff..thank God for TIVO.
So, for the past few days all ive been thinking about is HALLOWEEN! An actual excuse to dress up in a silly costume = awesome!! Ive never understood how people dont take advantage of Halloween..seriously its the only time you can get dressed up in your sluttiest form and not get persecuted for it...
And though i have gone down that rough sexy path before (lol...believe me next time you decide to go uber sexy for halloween, make sure reckless friends are not taking reckless pictures to end up in reckless places...i.e. facebook!! NOT a good look i assure you...many O.M.G. what was i thinking?? WHY am i posing like that???? moments..) and im so bored with the cliche sexy nurse, sexy police officer, sexy prisoner...blah blah blah!!!!!! So its been stressful trying to find a costume!! If i spent this much time on my schoolwork......
What is anyone going as for halloween and what are you doing?? The Cavens are throwing a halloween party in Md that i shall be attending, and should be FUn!! (Nigerians...i wonder if they will actually wear costumes, not to talk of putting any effort into it??)
Anyway i finally found a costume today and i'm soooooooooo excited...its given me motivation to em...tighten things up....cant be caught looking sloppy in my costume now innit :) Its a secret for now hehee because such are the things that spice up my life.

........'THIS' equals being stuck in a school computer lab playing around on Photoshop and Illustrator...Bleh! I wish i was home cuddled under my covers with a cuppa hot tea watching the fabulous Upper east siders battle their shallow problems (seriously, between Gossip Girl and the Hills, I need to pull one of these girls aside and ask them if they need some REAL problems??? I'm more than willing to offload my plate here :)....)

This weekend I have officially crowned myself the ultimate party girl (youth...YOUTH!! this is evidence!)...I realised that were I to be a celebrity, I might not be that nice classy breed that you only see at events and the like...My girls and I just might be the Lindsay Lohans & co stumbling out of the club at 4am with a suspiciously disoriented look in my eyes. I have seriously been on a partying binge from Wednesday night & thurs night (NY - mansion & Marquee respectively)..Fri & Sat in DC (2 Nigerian independence day parties - i need say no more) and back to NY on sunday night (Home/Guesthouse)..... and so I met 11am Monday morning with an emergency call to my doctors office (Do you smoke? - No, Do you drink ---errrrrr...can I even answer socially anymore?) Le sigh..

My birthday has come and gone (HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE --- must milk the fab libra month for all its worth ps. Happy birthday to all my fellow librans!!) and it was very...adventurous! Lets just stay the plan started with Kareoke, somehow dabbled into a strip joint (don't ask), and ended up at Guesthouse...eventful no? It was lovely to see all the girls out and about, even those Nigerians that dont understand that Kareoke from 9 - 12 doesnt mean arrive at 12am all decked out and asking 'why are you guys leaving?' errrrrrr......! It was all good though, they were gorgeous for coming out nontheless :) Ran into the fabulous Aggyness Dyen (who posed with the birthday girl aka me!) at Kareoke AND Rosario Dawson (who is a lot more regular looking than i thought...who knew?) and then the FINE FINE FINE Meagan Goode (it was her sisters birthday too!)...so that was enough to make the night even 10 times more interesting than it already was! Ikechukwu and Sasha also came out for the Guesthouse part of the event, so i have to shout the nigerian celebs out too haha!!

Anyways hopefully a fun time was had by all, (why does there always have to be those crazy 'birthday girl' moments when youre stressing out and wishing you never decided to throw any gig in the first place??? *rolls eyes*)

Anyhoo, finding an apartment in NY is a total BITCH! and therefore I must say i am so relieved to have finally found an apartment with a totally wonderful and the sweetest roomate EVER!!! She is a HE, i.e. yes i am residing with a man, yes my father would have a hernia if he knew, but you know what? living with a dude is a whole lot better than living with a female.. he doesnt care when i have friends over...(and believe me...I HAVE FRIENDS OVER!!)...he takes out the trash and all that...he pops champagne for me on my birthday haha (okay everyone says he has a crush on me but i refuse to believe that part)...and he brings cute friends over (HALLELUJAH!!)... er...I hope a certain someone doesnt read this post :) Ive included some pictures of him and my mini photoshoot that he was gracious enough to shoot LOL...yes did i mention he also serves as our photographer? so...woop woop Henry!!

Anyhoo, I really have to get off the computer now Im a little ashamed, i have some of my classmates here and everytime they come to me to ask about a problem, i see them back away hesitantly as my own photoshop involves a whole bunch of pictures and not so much fashion CAD..(blush)

Landlord! I have a Rant due!

I was Highly Patriotic this independence day weekend...OMG!!...talk about Marking register at almost every event..
To be quite honest, i usually do not like going for Maryland shindigs...Unless...Unless...its that kind of night where ALL your friends want to go...everyone you know is going...There is nothing else to do...so its like....err well!...

Anyhoo but this time i was quite excited to attend the festivities!...I have been dyiiiiiing to hear Nigerian Music in the club...i am sorry...there is nothing as sweet as dancing to " Kini big deal or a Dbanj anthem"...in a spacious area with the music blasting off the walls!!...so i was like woohoo yeaaa!...I had PLANNED to attend just the friday event at Love Niteclub....but somehow i attended like 3 events...whadyaknow!!...Back to Back like a hardcore paRTy rocker too!...very ridiculous....on saturday i was DONE!...but My Older sis who doesnt go to Nigerian events AT ALL...wanted to go for an independence thingy to prove she wasn't a total sellout lol...so i HAD to go along just to support her entry into uncharted territories (gosh i am such a sweet younger sister)...but anyhoo kept on running into the same people...in different outfits!
Had fun on thursday and friday....infact had TOO much fun on friday thanks to the devil's juice! ..I swear My friend called me the next day and i was like, "Oh i am so sad i didnt see you at the party, where were you!!!!!!" and he goes, "dude, we hung out together for like 30 mins, you were even wearing my sunglasses all night!"...i was like....HUHHHHH?????!!!....So i sure did steer clear from alcohol at yesterday's event....I didn't need a repeat performance..No Ma'm!

But Anyhoo i have A RANT based on this weekend.... First of all, GIRLS are very interesting beings...i really feel like women need to just come together and EXHALE.... When a group of women who dont know each other well, chill in the same place at the same time, the air just thickens with suspicion and paranoia!...WHY CANT WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!lol....I personally think i am Nice.......no seriously i really do lol....I have NO problems with anyone...But i am just reserved, if i dont know you i don't go out of my way to jump in front of you and say Hello!!....I just chill, If our eyes connect, ill say Hello...I repeat, i have no problems with anyone...i don't HATE on anyone... I am actually just a chill female!!..No hostility here!....but dude...the amount of hostile eyes i connected with this weekend was quite shocking lol...I mean I think people just ASSUME things about My friends and I because we seem too clique /ish..or so i have heard anyway......You hear stuff like, Oh these girls think they are this and that...blah blah blazi!...so its like automatically people just assume that because we are always together and either being really loud lol or being very quiet, we either are unfriendly or think we iz the shizzz..oh dont get me wrong, i do feel i am the shizz..hahaha.....Assumptions are never facts dudes!...
ANyhow the reason i am going semi personal on here is because of i felt this weekend was interesting....i had quite a number of awkward female crazy moments...but i shall narrow it down to two incidents...First of, there was this female who was really cold to my friend who also happens to be HER friend...and i am talking point blank rude to her .... because she was hanging with my sis and I at a party on friday night!!....now her reason is she thinks i don't like her....because...er...she just thinks so??...or i don't say hi??..or something?!...???...I mean i really dont know this girl at all..To even assume I have formed a decision about whether or not i like her is ludicrous...as far as i know she is an attractive cool girl!!...so why assume i dont like you??....its silly!!....all i am trying to say is...I don't talk about people...because...and to be quite honest....i really dont CARE!!!...i dont go out of my way to be mean to anyone...i just do me...if i walk past you, its because I didn't see you....so stop assuming i purposely expend my energy on stupid girly crap...who cares...hiss. lol...Don't think we are rival groups, don't think we are competing, don't think because you see me giggle to a friend when you enter a room that i am laughing at you, don't think i think i am better than you...ridiculous shit...Its just so tiring having to deal with females and their exhausting imaginations....i get along with confident girls who are above all that crap!....No seriously...
AND secondly..My second wtf moment is with this other group of girls i see about town, I do not know these ladies by names, we have never been introduced...i just have seen them around and thats really about that.. but yet, mutual friends keep telling me shit that these girls talk about my friends and I...and although i usually dont pay attention to crap like that, its quite interesting that somehow somewhere some girls are locked up in an invisible battle with ...quite honestly...themselves...lol.....The hostility permeating the airwaves when we are all in touching distance is hilarious...even outside people who have never met girl group in question and just randomly just stumble onto this imaginary battle zone are like...whats really good?!!...And We just keep giving ourselves quizzical expressions like Are they for real??...Na fight?...lol...But its all good though..everyone is on their own P....let them do them...I just hope to never be jumped by a group of chics because they THINK i am hating on them lol....

AS a closing statement, I really just think females need to start looking at each other as Potential friends, instead of potential rivals...There are girls i meet that i just click with in an hour because they are just open and confident and happy and then there are these other girls who are just so frigging wierd and its just impossible to get past their crazy barriers and preconcieved notions about you....i find myself trying to be extremely down to earth and friendly just to prove to people i am not what you think!!...I am not MRS friend...and i am not going to go out of my way to BEFRIEND anyone...unless you are frigging Beyonce...lol...but just leave your insecurities at the door and realize that you cant make judgements about people you dont know!

This is my rant of the day lol! I have to get bACK TO 177 slides of infectious diseases....i am not kidding...it is a 177 slides...Thanks for listening yall!!....And i hope everyone is staying fabulous!!

So this weekend we FINALLY broke the "I hate New york" merry go round!! WOOHOOIE!

Honestly! New york REALLY sucks when "You don't have an APARTMENT to crash " or are BROKE...There is NOTHING worse than trying to hit the clubs whilst riding the NY subway..Truly and deeply sucks!!....You just look like a group of whores on the train..haha dodging advances from lusty crackheads...its ugly trust me!!....
Anyhoo Thankfully ozzy FINALLY *side eye at ozzy* found an Apartment...and so we came down to Bless it with some good old fashioned jollification!....I mean timing was excellent...right after My pathology AND microbiology exam...so yall know i was dying for a drink!...a night of blatant alcoholism was an absolute MUST...after 100 sleepless nights...i just couldn't wait!!..Oh God I Hope my Mother never reads this Blog!lol...MOMMY I AM SORRY!..its just that FUN RESIDES IN A VODKA BOTTLE! I didn't make the ruless!!!....

Anyhooie, in a nutshell it was reallly fun!! Our girlfriend Niki was around from New Orleans as well as Abby from Boston!...Girls Night out...short dresses and stilettos...awesome!...I usually hate club hopping...usually when i get to zone A, I AM GOOD!...But we decided to be really adventurous and it turned out to be quite awesome...so woohoie!!...and oh on Friday we ended the night hanging with Naeto C, Ikechuckwu and Co who were around to shoot their new videos (which I assisted to style the ladies)...Fun dudes...Fun times!!it was an all round fun time coconut chips!lol.

I love NYC...hahaha....its strange cus I swear everytime I have gone to NY this year.....its been like "ohgodnotagain"....hahaha.....

Anyheeeeeeeeewwww.....me and my sweet sister skipped out on thursday last week right after
my microbio exam and decided it was time to end this plague (i guess). So we got on the bus crossing our fingers and hoping that this time in NY it would be more fun than the regular blahhh that I usually experience (i dont know im old). On the way...I finally had time to gather pictures for wat I was going to blog about and I did and it was fun until I fell asleep and proceeded to anger Doreen for the rest of the ride cus my head kept fallin on her shoulder (in my defense I only sleep this ugliness sleep when I havent slept for an entire week..and thats the kind of suffering I was suffering :() Anywayyyy....we got to NY and Oz was not picking up her phone...you see she just moved and like we didnt have an addy to get to...and it was not soo nice out and I was looking kinda nice in my little cute outfit....so of course I wasn't happy....kinda knew at that point that I was going to have a sucky ass NY experience...:( thennnnn TADA! she called back and we were whisked away by a really cool cab driver to Ozzy'z really fab apt (with a cutie as a roomie to add to the sweetness of her life...) Yeah but anyhow...this weekend was like soooo much funnn!!!!! I can't even begin to explain..met loads and loads of cute dudes...lol...we found a nice grp of errrr educated working errr brothas hahahahaha....a first for me......i got romantically entangled...lol....like all of us did...weird but totally awesoooommmmeeeeeee and generally just had fun with my girlieesssssss!!!!!!

I was originally going to talk about blazers only but I obv got sidetracked. So lets see....
blazers....hmmm....I started wearing blazers early on in life...lol...Doreen and I had these matching sailor outfits (skirt and blazers or jackets like i used to call them) hers was white..mine was blue...I obv always wanted the white one..heyyy....but yeah Ive totally worn blazers all my life even tho at 1 point I mixed blazers and jackets up...there is a difference oohh and I learnt it the harsh way..but anyhow...I love blazers....didnt always fancy them esp in Lagoon when they wanted to change our uniform and incorporate blazers into the already heat gathering ensemble....(it doesnt make sense for anybody in Africa to wear blazers...or socks or shoes hahahahaha) but yeah blazers are soo cool...I esp love the pic of Kate Moss below...that oversized blazer is soo coooll!!! loveee itt!!!

Yay!! My Fabulous, gorgeous friend Nkem has a blog!!

She has been featured on here a couple of times with her "twin" lol ...no actually her younger sister, Nkechi for their style wattage..

I spent a weekend with Nkem two summer's ago in DC and she UNKNOWINGLY taught me a very valuable lesson....lol...she taught me How to be a LADY!.....I mean after that weekend i made a mental note to myself To TRY and edit my tomboyish ways lol.....Anyone who knows Nkem, Knows she STAYS coiffed!..Not a hair out of place, Nails did, Outfit, pressed and of course gorgeously tailored, hand bag right, shoes on point....its ridiculous!!....lol i love it!!...even this summer whilst we were at the beach for a friends bday...Nkem showed up with a finished face, soft tousled waves in her hair, OUTFIT (lol cus i know you planned that outfit down to your slippers lol) right...lol but that didnt stop her from kicking people's butts sprinting on the beach!!....you see...Although at first glance, your first impression is OMG this girl is such a diva!...after spending some time with her you will realize that she is also really cool, REALLY FUNNY and down to earth!....lol I especially LOVEE watching Her and her sister bicker!!...it is just a SLIGHTLY more vicious version lol of joan and I fighting...loves the sisterly love!!

While i was quietly watching Gossip girl .....i was pleasantly SURPRISED by a trailer of Confessions of a shopaholic..and i must say...I AM SO FRIGGING EXCITED!....I am a total CHICK FLICK movie Bufff....and although i must admit i only read the sophie kinsella's first book (for some reason i dont fancy popular lit)....the trailer just blew me away...and to top it all off...its being directed by JERRY BRUCKHEIMER!!(sp?).....Awesome!!.... wait!! ...sigh...oh february i await thee...

The belt i also got a million years ago when i was into the rock studded look...i look at it from time to time...and go ...hmm toss??...but somehow it manages to escape my salvation army bag...its a very simple easy to wear outfit!

So my brother is totally obsessed with Nigerian music...lol.... can't blame him...I mean the artists are like soo SICKK !! I confess that I am like Dbanj's greatest fan....hes AMAZING...hahahaha....totally dig him....and their vids....they are really alright....I mean a big step up from err...Mr Showkey's Dyna vid...(no offense) I just can't wait till Nigerian movies start to look as good as the music vids..hahahaha...there shud be no reason to spell Armageddon as get this...AMAGEDOM....I hope its all jokes sha....
Anyway...I went to the African store today (maggi is like crack :) ) and an image scarred me for life...ok for like 5 mins tops.....As an African, I have eaten a lot of strange things...I mean I feel close to cannibal many times...hearts and gizzards, oxtails and now chicken feet???? What the?? Don't get me wrong...I have seen my aunty in Nigeria eat this rare delicacy before but I just thought it was cus she was greedy and wanted to eat the whole damn chicken. I really can't get around the fact that pepaws eat chicken feet.....I mean uve eaten the wings, the thighs, the breast etc...why you gatta eat the feet tho?? like leave some for the trash yo!hahahahhaa....

I love black minis cus you can honestly just pair them with a top and ta da! you are ready to go out! You can never go wrong if you have a black mini....trust me I know!!

I guess i am on a roll with timeless fashion pieces!

I consider myself quite the collector of the Chanel 2.55 model. I do driveby's in new york vintage markets & resale stores HOPING to get my hands on a well preserved, very beautifully made, AUTHENTIC, classic Chanel purse .

They mostly all possess the distinct look made popular since 1955 which is the lambskin quilted leather, the gold tone hard ware with a leather and gold

chain shoulder strap and a flap top closure with the Chanel interlocking CC twist lock. Gorgeous.

All credit goes to the late great Coco Chanel of course, who said, and i quote, "Innovation! One cannot be forever innovating. I want to create classics." And create classics she did!

I actually sort of despise her lol (God forgive me), for all the times she has made me shell out money for a purse i KNOW i don't need but MUST HAVE. But yes!!!..sometimes you have to weigh the odds - hmm Food..... or Fashion????...tough cookie!

But anyway for those Chanel enthusiasts who want to stock up on some Chanel 2.55 model bags, you have to be aware that many fakes exist! I personally don't like EBay for that reason alone , i prefer hitting up stores and personally checking for authenticity.

!!AUTHENTICITY CHECK!!

You should know that authentic vintage Chanel handbags have interior labels on the inside which are either a gold or silver Chanel stamp, embossed Chanel logo, rectangular leather label with Chanel sign in gold or silver, oval label with embossed Chanel logo, black label with Chanel in white color or black label with vertical lines. If there is no label boo boo its fake!!

You should also check for a Chanel logo on ALL zipper pulls PLUS your Chanel handbag should come with a serial number sticker, a seven or eight digit code which should match the authenticity card that comes with your hand bag.

And lastly { and which i found out the hard way bah:( } When checking the details of vintage Chanel handbags, make sure you’ve taken closer look at the CC logo. The top portion of the right C must overlap the top portion of the left C and the bottom portion of the left C must overlap the bottom portion of the right C!

if you look out for these features, you would be able to Bag (no pun intended) yourself a totally authentic vintage Chanel handbag!!

Chanel bags are truly timeless. They been synonymous with luxury and fashion for over 50 years. The vintage bags are generally cheaper than brand new ones but are still quite pricey and a great investment. You can use it and sell it for almost as much as you paid for it and hand it down to your little girl - Unfortunately for me, i have about 3 older sisters who are rocking my mom's Chanel's with no interest in letting it pass down the food chain - so Joan and I eat last! BAH :( - but anyway my daughters will be set! And would probably covet the purses just as much as my sisters do! So ladies, hold on to your Chanel's! Someday you may be able to sell them for a good amount of money or pass them down to your daughters who may covet them more than you!

So I got a look at the September issue of Vogue and I totally lurrrrrveee the way Keira Knightley looks. Apart from the cover look (which pays homage to Yves Saint Laurent), the feature story shows Miss Knightley looking totally vamp with 30s/40s glam makeup. OMG....she looks like a totally different individual...make up is indeed damn near magical...lol....Apart from that though...the clothes...kill me now..hahahaha.....I want them sooo much...that Yves Saint Laurent nylon dress is the bee's knees!!!I dont know why its not in my closet! Hahahaha....I absolutely love all the outfits and I would sell my sister if they would miraculously appear in my closet...sorry Dee!!!

Anywhoo....seeing these pictures reminded me of last summer when me and my friends were obsessed with Betty Page. We are the greatest fans of anything vintage....yeah if its vintage we will totally eat it up...how totally cliche...hahaaha....but we were at my place watching like a gazillion old movies when we came across this movie not on TCM but on another channel...maybe Lifetime (cus we do watch that a lot too). It was called the Notorious Betty Page. Long story short...she was a Pin Up girl and bondage model...(no it wasn't that kind of movie :) ) It was a fun movie...we saw how someones life could totally change and she was soo innocent...she really didnt know what she was doing....but yeah I'm blabbing....Basically we loved her hair and she inspired us to try more inventive 40s hairstyles. This of course led to dressing like we were in the 40s...accesorizing (sp) with brooches and what nots...and wearing 40s inspired makeup....I can bet ppl who didnt know us got a lil irritated...hahahaa....yeah watever....

Wayfarer..you are still here today...and although you are not always branded Rayban lol...your wonderful classical shape is seen on the shelves of stores worldwide including pharmacy stores like CVS and rite aid...lol ..You range from $ (for those who don't care about labels) to $$$( for the label whores who need the RAYBAN stamp of authenticity).....So although you are quite Loose : other words to describe you - common, cheap, available, easily obtained - we are convinced of your very intriguing ability to resurface....so wayfarer with that, we fashion lovers believe a pair or ten wouldn't hurt..after all there is nothing better than a product with no expiration date!

I think ozzy's sunglasses are mad cool(below)...we found them at this vintage store in new york...around 14th street...its a store only full of very wacky vintage sunglasses...bedazzled, excessively excessive sunglasses lol...fun trying em on....

The Marc Jacobs are soooooo sexy! i am obsessed with sunglasses - I know its considered kind of LOCAL lol to wear sunglasses in a club lol but damn i am pushing to make it cool and trust me it has been a BUMPY, insult ridden ride as my friends have never hesitated to finish my life when i make the mistake of donning a pair lol - i think we should stop calling em sunglasses and just call them HATER BLOCKERS - or lets just accept that it has a dual function - to block the sun in the day and to block the hate at night lol... I know i am not convincing anyone lol...but really do me a favor, go out one day...and wear your sunglasses in the club...TRUST ME...it makes you feel slightly invincible...lol...like you feel a lot more free and relaxed because you cant catch anyone's judgemental eye haha.....BUT I am going to move on because i KNOW i am alone in this...TRUST me the rules will relax one day and ill be the first to be on the dance floor in my sunglasses...this PREJUDICE against night sunglassers wearing has got to STOP! :)

Today I was going through my old pictures (don't you love doing that? its amazing the things that you find...plenty of cringe-worthy what-was-i-thinking?? moments!!). I came across a few pictures that I thought to share. This night brings back major shits & giggles; a rainy night, couple of cocktails, dress up, a random American Apparel Ad, and trying my hands at being androgynous (channeling my inner Karl - I think I did pretty alright considering that I found all these gems in my wardrobe haha)......

Betsey Johnson travel luggage is a guilty pleasure...Im not one for tacky but there is something grungy and dirty (think gold spikes and black patent leather), yet luxurious that Betsey is able to bring together so seamlessly. The peace sign is so Doreens signature, and Joan playin around with her accessories, loves it!

Our take on American Apparel...speaking of..what do you think of their recent racy ads? Its causing quite a stir...well heres us a little less pornographic. American apparel is a tad overpriced considering that they work with mostly spandex which has to be THE cheapest fabric available.....

Its so hard to wear a lot of colors without being borderline tacky, so a splash of something bright is always good when mixed up with more somber colors, im loving Joans purple tights... Here's a good way to wear purple tights & sequins combined in one outfit without looking remotely loud..

By this time, we actually had the doorman taking our pictures lol!! He wanted in on the fun :). I remember a time when we actually used to leave the house dressed up like this and people would stare us down the street....I think we're getting a little boring guys!!! We once met Will.I.Am at a club in DC (pre-cranberry) and he told us that he loved our outfits, took us to his VIP section and hung out with us all night...but we were sooo young and sooo shy!! Dang if this was now, it would be a completely different story LOL

Hello all! Its been tooooooooo long, and I cant even come up with a plausible reason for ignoring our blog all this time. I guess sometimes, one just has to live and breathe!!! (*insert shy face*)
First of all - happy summer!! Yeah i know its practically over, and for those among us who work, it was hardly a holiday to write home about, save the heat, but I must say summer is simply blissful! I have eaten well, slept well, partied hard, all around been highly self indulgent, and loving every moment of it!
What are your summer must haves? Mine are:

DRESSES!!! I'm proud to say that no pair of jeans or pants of any sort have touched these lovely legs since the month of May...i think summer was all about the dresses! Short, flowery, floaty, bohemian, you name it! I love love love love love dresses...... I remember a time i went through a shorts phase (about 3 summers ago) that resulted in over 20 different pairs of shorts in all shapes colors and sizes (le sigh..)

**Of course the Hater-blockers! We all love the summer sun, but that doesnt mean our eyeballs have to become burning balls of fury..we all need that fancy gear protecting our precious eyes, and of course making us look hella fly in the process...

^^^^**Chapstick!! yes believe it or not, im obsessed not with lipgloss or lipstick but with chapstick!!! My name is Ozzy and I cannot live without my cherry chapstick...true story! I just need my lips moisturized all the time without being sticky especially in the heat..ugh! I hardly even wear lipstick with gloss...i guess im just not a lipgloss person***^^

and this seasons must haves!------> Gladiator sandals! I hate to be a total trendie but I cant help but love gladiators...ive always been a flats/sandals sort of person so this was like icing on my cake...i absolutely fell in love with my regular knock about ones i got from BCBG which are gladiator jellies...loves em! I hope it doesn't get cold till October I still have some gladiator left in me to give!

Movies!! I love summer blockbusters...We totally had a SEX & THE CITY-TI-TI.. night..(dressed up, had cosmos and then saw the movie) and it was welllll worth the wait!!! Iron Man was another killer! Seriously this movie was spectacular, I know the buzz is all about Batman (more like Heath Ledger) right now, but ive never been a Batman fan, so im still 'planning' to see it, but Iron Man totally made my summer, I cant even remember anything else I've seen that I loved even half as much. And of course Mamma Mia, although im obsessed with Abba so the movie could really do no wrong for me! Right now i wait with bated breath for Harry Potter IX : Half blood Prince!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! If you havent already checked it out...Do!!

BEYONCE! I cant get enough of this woman even if I tried, and even though she is conspicuously missing from the scene, I still glow with joy at the little snippets that we starving Stans get once in a while, so enjoy one of my favorite flicks of my beautiful B from the summer!

ThisDay Festival...

Na soo oo... lol....I've always wanted to say that! lol

So Doreen and I decided that we were of course going for the This day festival being held in my backyard..DC :)....we knew it was going to be an awesome show (judging from their previous shows) and did I mention that Jay-Z was performing?!....Anyway...we went and OMG....it was such a great show...Bigups to Thisday and Bigups to Nigeria. I was highly impressed!

Music

The first performer was Youssou N'dour, a Grammy winning artist from Senegal. He is such an amazing artist - his voice , his band, his musicality - it was totally inspiring. He sang this song at the end which was about a positive AFRICA...it was totally chillworthy ...dude is sick...For those who dont know him, please google him and download him.....like Youssou said at the beginning of the act "Jayz might be a headliner of the show BUT the african acts are the content of the show"...so please lets support our AFrican Musicians!...

The second performer was John Legend whom i love....More so since Dental school because he is my music of choice on those exam days when i need to stay awake lol. He did an awesome job as i expected...He is a great "Live performer...and he performed a new song called "goodmorning" which was so beautiful...and he also got the whole audience singing along with him, "Take it slowwwwwww, this time we will take it slowwwwwww"....Awesome!

Unfortunately, D'banj and Tuface did not perform at the thisday festival due to Flight conflicts....BUMMER.

The last performer was Jayz! If I wasn't a Jay-Z fan before...well I am now one 100%(Dont get me wrong oh, I am and will always be A Fan)...best rapper aliver.... His swag mehn...I am convinced he has links to the devil because anything he asked me to do, be it throw up a ROC sign or chant HOVA! HOVA! - i did it with all the energy in my chest lol....I friggin had a religious experience....And PLEASE, who are all the haters yarning that Jayz isnt Handsome...PLEASE he is fugging SEXY!!I KID YOU NOT!...Fresh to death...his skin is so soft and smooth lol...the epitome of GOOD LIVING...I was seriously hating on beyonce...GAWSH.....I wanted to follow him wherever he was going.....we saw some chick backstage and we convinced ourselves that that was Bee(you know i went crazy lol)..it really looked like her and she was really dancing during Jay's performance. AWWWW!!!! I love Bigga!!

I know very little about MOMO except that her collection was soo fieeerrrcceeeee.....when I saw her stuff (resort 2009) come down the runway I was sooo impressed with the cut of the dresses and choice of fabric...AND her fabrics were all Made in Nigeria...isnt that INCREDIBLEE!!! - Dude i dont know want i am doing in this country ...Nigeria is honestly the place to be....Her clothes were absolutely gorgeous....very ladylike...very flowy...awesome....I soo want one of her dresses!!!!! And she sounds like my one of my auntiesss!!!!! lol (proper Nigerian lady!)

And of course everybody knows the Deola Sagoe is sooo SICK...her collection was really HOT. Her inspirations were the rich african fabrics and the victorian era (what a contrast) - she had a very interesting and totally original collection - she had this swatch dress - Like swatches of different square swatches of fabrics used to create this very free moving dress ( i just had to gasp) and like very interesting collars on her dresses....it was very inspiring!!

Both designers REALLY killed it...i was impressed and Oppressed...it truely inspired me to DO better...so Maybe One day we would show at the this day festival...for now...its Practice makes perfect! lol...!!!

Chris Aires collection had jewelry that came up to $450 million in total...YEAH....I wish...I just wish that I could have stolen like 2 outfits at least....I KID! or maybe not...but Tyson walked for his collection and I nearly swooned when I laid my eyes on him...what a HUNK!

Yeah so thats it....after the show...we went to the official after party at Ibiza...good times were had by all!...met lots of cool folk!
The Thisday festival continued with fab performances from Tuface, Naeto C and Ikechukwu at H20 nite club in DC the next day (Dbanj wasnt there).

Bigups to Mr Obaigbena for helping to represent Africa in an awesome light.

We Met Adesuwa this summer while looking for our look book model and we fell head over heels in lurrrve with her look!! She agreed to be our cranberry girl Which is AWESOME as hell because she is the shiz!

Most Importantly, and i must say this because i have come across a lot of models with shitty ass attitudes... honestly, Adesuwa is just the coolest cat ever!...down to earth, fun and chilll....which is the deal...

Anyway we have been just having fun with cranberry projects!..and so, in addition to our regular collection, we decided to do a cotton collection (because cotton rocks!) and Joan threw in a tie and dye african cotton dress (which we lovvvve) - which fueled MY desire for some more african print in our collection! - so in TOTAL - we r still completing the cotton collection, our regular fall collection AND planning an african fabric collection(fingers crossed)...ALL IN DUE TIME....lol...

RANDOM BUT - We have soooooo many ideas and sometimes i feel so crippled when something prevents it from happening BUT...i believe that everything is going to work out in the long run....i really believe that....Our time will come too. Amen.

Anyhoo so Adesuwa came around to our apartment to help a sista out in getting the proper fit for our upcoming shoot -and we took some pictures.. and so here is a sneaaak preview of *some* dresses from our cotton collection( which basically consists of easy to wear dresses which are light and fun to wear) and also two new dresses from our fall collection!

I have so much Back Posts...so lemme just start with the cherry blossom show...i promised pictures...and didnt deliver...which sucks....But i have some here!! ....Anyhooo here we go>>>>>>>>>>>

The show was really cool...problem was...we had NO MODELS....so we made impromptu calls to our sweet wonderful friends...nkechi, vel, robin and naima who THANKFULLY were available! (love you guys!!)....anyway from what i can REMEMBER lol, it was fun! - It had unique concept in that it was a STILL fashion show...No catwalk basically...the models were manniquins(basically standing in a pose for an amount of time) - (imagine having to tell that to people doing you a favor who just though they would do a walk and be outtie lol)....so really thank God we have awesome friends!

So anyway - pictures speak louder than words!!

Hey guys...no we are not free yet...we are still suffering but not in silence..lol...I have been complaining to anyone and everyone who wud lend me their ears on the wickedness that is grad skool....MY GOSH!! Will it ever end?? I cannot lie I am soo jealous of those that are graduating this yr...they seem so excited...so happy....I mean they are DONE!!! I wish I WASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS :( Not fairrr!!!

I just wanted to tell you guys...you icecream laffers that today is free cone day at BEN AND JERRYSS!!! YAYYYYY!!!!! I have one right next to my aprtment....will definitely be hitting it up since I am a believer in free things.....

Also if you do not make it for the free Icecream today...At BASKIN ROBBINS they are doing a 31cents scoop night tomorrow!! Talk about COMPETITION!!!...But Awesome regardless!!! First of all....CONGRATULATIONS TO MY ONE AND ONLY QUEEN B!!!!! I cant believe she got hitched, I know that wedding was emotional, and I am soooooo super happy for her (even though I wasnt invited...why now? lol) I seriously considered hopping on the metro and going down to 195 Hudson to stalk that building...I had to physically restrain myself...sigh. The wedding was sooo romantic, and honestly it was my ideal wedding (very small, just immediate family and close friends invited)..i dont know how it is possible to be Nigerian and have that sort of wedding but Lord knows I am going to offend a lot of people by giving it my best shot hehee..

Please noone should ever insult beyonce or JayZ again by linking him to that small girl, the respect he has for beyonce is UNTOUCHABLE!!! (speaking of Rihanna - don't she and Chris Brown make the absolute cutest couple..as unbelievably convinient as that relationship is??). Anyhoo, May GOD bless their union!! I believeeee in the lovvvveeee!

I've never really been a fan of Nigerian music before, it was always a little hard for me to buy into the fake westernized rapper/ rnb wannabe thing...but I have to duff my hat to Mo Hits records...amazing! D'banj/ wande coal/ etc are simply amazing..omg...i never thought I'd see the day where im desperately searching for a Nigerian song on itunes...but im totally smitten with their music... My good friend Bolaji Kekere-ekun, who Im sure youve seen on our blog quite a bit, and who is the epitome of a REAL fool (lol) made a mock D'banj/wande coal sketch that is completely brilliant!! LOL....everyone is talking about it, I literally went to some house thing yes'day and overheard some strangers discussing it, thats how crazy it is!! Check it out...

Did anyone tune into the make me a supermodel show?? Its like the best thing since ANTM...wayyyy better than ANTM...it was like an ACTUAL modelling show, with real models who can get real jobs and who got realistic experiences not all that made for tv crap on antm... anyways i was soooo upset that my lucious BEN didnt win!!!!! I was so in love with him (sob!!) and with his love triangle with Ronnie heheee.... He was so sexy tho..I mean why couldnt one of the dudes have won, who the hell voted for that dry looking girl?

I have to whineeeee about the fact that I am going to be homeless in less than a month!! What is it with these Newyorkers and renting me somewhere to live?? They dont even want to hear it when youre a student..most of them ask that you make 70 x the rent even if its some crappy ass place...like seriously!! NY is pissing me off right now! arrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

Anyhoo, this was just a pit stop on my procrastination train, I have 10,000 drawings to make before 9am tomorrow, and I am looking for anything that can distract me before the inevitable occurs! SIGH...i hate school! Good luck to J & Dee on their upcoming exams!!!!

SCHOOL came back with a bang, histology and physiology exams..sigh*..hence my absence!....So where did we stop?...okay as you have been briefed... it was a rush showing - we had in total about 6 new dresses from our new collection( called "SUGARCANE"...we named it after not the candy cane but SUGAR frigging sweet sweet cane itself...lol it was a unanimous decision!) and also some of our old stuff as well..everything went really smoothly, it was very professional and we made a lot of great contacts, all in all i am really pleased we did this show.

On the topic of preparing the collection...

Anyways what can i say, sewing with a body was awesome! Ozzy our lovely Fashion school resident had us learning draping techniques and patternmaking which was extremely helpful. We decided to finish what we could that week and get together next week to finish the entire collection..it was AN experience but what kept us going was the motto we adopted for this collection which was/is and i very proudly quote, "WHAT WOULD BEYONCE DO..(hand on the chin and finish with a HMM"....BECAAAAAUSE You know my girl gives 150% EVERYTIME!! UNFAILINGLY! THANK YOU!! lol....AS tiring as it was.. it also was intensely satisfying...

On the topic of Fabric shopping..

Fabric shopping was really fun, we went with the jewel tones and heavy brocades...sexxxy...we were going for cocktail fun and flirty..LONGER LENGTHS lol...and the next batch of clothes we make will include single pieces like tops and bottoms, TWILL BE A FUN EXPERIMENT lol...

I personally love it all and we had a GREAT GREAT feedback from the show so we feel really good!! and it is feeling REALLY REAL! so yay!! -
We have another show on the 16th in NYC, its also a really good opportunity for publicity and contacts and i honestly am very excited and better still its for CHARITY!
All the fashion designers slated to appear are verrrrry talented and i have been loving Miss Bruno (we didnt get to meet her at the Bkshow but hey maybe its fate!)and kathy Misick's work...i also loooove the simmon sisters and their Pastry shoe line...so i am like YAY!!!
I sincerely hope everything works out great :)

Our BUSIEST week/weekend is over!!!! I cannot begin to express how relieved i am! This week was one of sleepless nights..working on the new collection/ Having to stop midway to run down to NY to do the BK fashion weekend show was wayy worse that you can possibly imagine. We finally got on the daggone bus, believe me, 4 hours was hardly enough sleep, straight with all sorts of luggage to Billy's burg (my 2nd foray into brookyln i might add...i find that i really like williamsburg though..) to fit the models at the show (as we had been informed the night before that even tho we were previously scheduled to show on sunday, we were now showin that friday at 6pm)...SIGH..! Well, i was very impressed with the show actually..it was a very well put together, REAL fashion show, with a lot of industry folk and media (ugh im cringing at the amount of video interviews we did lol) met a lot of photographers/models etc.... One thing though...this dude called Nana Boateng was showing as well..and boy oh boy...the male models...Oh my goodness...I swear every girl in that place wanted to pass out...I can safely say that i have never seen so many HOT men in one gathering before...*swoons*...okay back to the business at hand...the show was a success!! Ideally, we would have only wanted to show only our new collection, but as last minute as it was it was quite impossible to have finished making a collection and shown it by friday unless we were really rushing, and we didnt want to rush the new collection or have it be sloppy in any kind of way, so we just agreed to use the 6 new pieces we had made and a couple of old dresses from our previous collection. The response was very encouraging, its always very humbling when people appreciate what you do. All in all I think the stress of the weekend was worth it, we made a lot of contacts and also it was good to set the ball rolling again. We'll be back with more and with a whole mess of pictures, but I think I need to fall back asleep I'm still worn out lol. HAPPY EASTER FOLKS!!!!!

Its 8 : 15 AM and "we" are sitting in my Apt's business complex (because my printer is broken!) WAITING to catch the 9 45 am chinatown bus to NY ( i hate those buses !) - I am tired as hell, didnt sleep a wink and i cant wait to literally PASS OUT on the damn bus! stitching, sewing, revamping ALL WEEK LONG..my sprrrrrrrring break is sooo terrible and yall know my dental school attending ass couldnt WAIT for a break!!..
SO why am i up THIS EARLY and dressed up!... its the BKfashionweekend thats why! and we are showing in it, i hope its fun.....it better be fun lol - it was a very last minute thing BUT i am excited to show "some" new clothes, about 6 in total, fitting is at 2 and the 8 am bus is SOLD OUT...which is why i am biding my time....this is why i use amtrak...damn chinatown buses....sigh last minute always sucks!
I am kinda shy about this new collection, cant wait to see how the clothes look on TALL people aka models!!
I know i dont sound as hype as i should be but damn it i cant lie i am tired and grouchy!!

Allo allo! (who remembers that show?...really I think its only in Nigeria that a bunch of africans are addicted to a flippin german show lol...remember those mute dogs as well...the things we suffer on NTA..) Anyways I digress...hows everyones week been? I have been mad busy with school...sigh design school aint no joke...and Parsons..even a bigger non-joke..! I literally have a new garment due every week, countless illustrations, this and that...its utter chaos! Its so much worse than being a biology major albiet 100 times sweeter lol...

Last weekend was utterly fabulous...My dear friends dammie (Editor of Haute magazine) and Bolaji (editor-at-large and USC film student/ naija movie conneseur (sp?) lol) and I went down to DC for the weekend, and of course our lovely hosts were my cranburr* sistahs! So we had planned a little film segment for Fashion Africa (http://fashionafrica.com ---> check it out..nothing short of amazing), ie a mini interview for the Haute TV section, and also as part of the Haute magazine team, we were conducting backstage interviews for the HUASA fashion show that also was that friday. It was SO MUCH FUN!!! Well that is when we were not a bundle of nerves...the pressure of being on video is so intense LOL we had to do like 20 takes just to be relaxed. Hopefully, Bolaji will have it up on the website sometime this week, but ill up you on more info on that later!! We also attended our friends saki's 25th birthday at the ritz carlton, a very small and elegant affair that just reeked of fabulousity! There is nothing I love more than seeing a bunch of stylish people together, and I appreciate it when people make the effort to look hella good (there is nothing worse than trying to throw a cocktail event and someone shows up in jeans..like are serious? The HUASA fashion show was nice ....it had been such a long time since we sat down in crampton JUST to watch a show and be in the audience (really its sad, i feel like i went to Howard i am a little over familiar with the school as a whole lol), i enjoyed every minute of it. Canadian cutie Eniola of DAVID debuted her collection and it was so cute, i totally lavvved it!!

SO, the moment that doreen, joan and I have been waiting for is here! We are finally about to launch our second collection. It has taken a while for us to synchronize our busy schedules and also to decide in what direction cranberry was headed. We are currently collecting our inspirations and sketching our designs. Next friday, J and Dee will be coming down to NY so we can approve each others sketches (a collection has to be a COLLECTION right..?..) and go fabric sourcing, so we can get down to the nitty gritty. We are also hiring interns to help us make the whole thing move much smoother. Right now we are talking to some exciting photographers (let you know more about that when plans are more solid) and planning a shoot scheduled for sometime this march...SIGH...its all madness but thats what we live for right?

Hey guys!!!

Last weekend was awesome...the fashion show was cute...the models, the designers, the stage, the dancers!!! everything!!!

Sooo I have this problem with African Shirts for men....it is something I don't really get. I know nobody died and called me Anna Wintour BUT this trend has got to stop. It is UGLY and I have never seen an African wear one unless he is a bus conductor in Nigeria of course...I don't understand why African designers feel the need to add this item of clothing to their already nice collections....if it is hard to design male clothes, DON'T! it is really not by force. I cannot count the number of times I have seen male models walk down the runway with an unattractive short sleeve shirt made of African fabric with a pair of jeans. I mean at least can we have like some designs here and there? Cap sleeves if any and pls can we mix some other materials in there so that we can actually differentiate that particular shirt from the many others that are out there. I always ask my male friends if they would wear those shirts and I always come up with the same answer.....starts with N and ends with R...I am not trying to knock anyone down but I know that most of these designers are creative and that they can actually make this "African male shirt" work. I mean damn...their female clothes are hot so why can't their male clothes be abi????

ANywayyyy.....we totally went for a really Fab! event this saturday!!! I love Fab girls!! They are awesome!!! It was my friends bday and we all went...Bolaji included. It was at the Ritz in G-town...awesome location by the way....Got to meet loads of cool peeps and stuff...unfortunately my memory stick is gone so alas! I am without piccies!!!Oh the HORROR!!!

Before that though, we had an interview for HauteTV....I was soooo shy...lol....I AM SHY! and so what????but I think it went pretty well....cannot wait to see it!!! It is coming soon to HauteTV tho! We have an interview with Haute Magazine's Bolaji Kekere Ekun for Haute TV. Yay!. He is over for the weekend and he is soo talented and a really good friend of ours!!

Our crazy imagination PLUS his is bound to create HAVOC lol...i have NO idea how it is going to run! i HOPE it would be fun...considering that i hate interviews and public speaking lol....Last time he came...was....hmm.... that would be the weekend of the Harry Potter final saga release, now wouldnt it?!......oh...and there was a midnight Harrypotter release costume party at borders...which we "cough" attended....I feel no shame because Harry is one of the people on my "i will fight with you if you make a nasty comment about him/her list"...i love Harry!

And of course we did what we love to do....have fun whilst acting the fool! lol.

Meanwhile, the cranberry team keeps growing and growing and i am just so excited!! We just added "Wadamie" as our PR person(haute Magazine's editor)...she is GREAT at PR...her networking skills are ON POINTE and Gawd knows that is not our strong point...but I AM learning ...albeit slow..but learning nonetheless....i just dont know how to approach anyone ...at all....i think we are extroverted introverts...or just shy...or just bitches...it all interchanges...but you cannot be in this type of business and succeed if you think you can do it all on your own lol...sigh* But she is steering us or forcing..it interchanges...to be more out there....and its fun!..so far.. ...she encouraged us to enter a teeshirt design competition at "thefashionbomb.blogspot.com"(its a very Fabulous & famous blog, yall should check it out).

We have no background in graphic design or fashion illustration but we can all naturally sketch..so Joan and I went for it...we did a little lol graphic type thing which embodied the concept of the "fashion bomb" ...we actually submitted it yesterday!... *cough* ...i am not trying to be negative here but we did it for purely for fun! there are alot of people who have more experience in teeshirt design that are going to enter the competition..but i am just happy i actually went for it!...lol i am such a debbie downer...but seriously i know my chances lol....but on a POSITIVE NOTE i LEARNT from this experience that we can actually design graphic images! i am going to see if i can print out a teeshirt with the image i made and if its hot...screw urban outfitters! i am going to be making my own teeshirts!

Last weekend was really the most unserious weekend I have had in like forever and I really have to thank the American presidents for that...w/o them I would never had had the fun of my life....MOVING ON....

What's new cus I have been out of it for like 2 weeks....Caught the new lil mama track...loveit!...normally she looks like an oily hardened soul with weave BUT she actually looked good in the vid...I was so proud of her (btw I'm a fan)....Also caught the grammys...loved bee's performance (DUHH!)...putting tina and bee together..uhh PURE GENIUS!...Meanwhile, caught the new "Making the Band" show and I was definitely left wondering...like who is Diddy kidding....why do we have to watch this show AGAIN...i mean what is the point?

Anyway...Fashion week has come and gone and sadly, I was in DC studying my tush off...how unfair :( I did however follow it as much as I could and I was blown away by some..so kudos (lol..i feel like my English lesson teacher) to them all.

My beautiful stylish Talented Bee..

Okay as an INTENSE, FEVERISH and very DEDICATED B'STAN, i cant help but be constantly injured by Hurtful, hurtful words her "unadmirers" constantly toss at her.

I personally try not to cram her down anyone's throat - This is our blog, yet despite the overwhelming love we have for her, we never speak about her here, maybe ONce or twice but really thats about it.

I dont speak about her to people who obviously dont care much for her and i dont force anyone around me to listen/watch/ or do anything pertaining to beyonce ...i could...but i really dont...BECAUSE i am respectful of people's opinions, likes and dislikes...at the end of the day, what matters to me most is my being UNAWARE of the negative comments...yet...i constantly get bombarded by them just because i am a fan..for some reason i am the "GO TO person for beyonce haters....i mean there i am just minding my own daggone business when someone sends me a msg "Oh. beyonce is such a fake bitch, oooo she is so fat, ooohh she lips synchs...i am like ??????....and there is the CONSTANT effort of People asking me, time and time again why i like beyonce and TRYING their best to UNFAN me.....Am i not ALLOWED to love her!...is it UNPOPULAR to like beyonce?..I really dont know how she ended up the enemy of all, when she is very Talented, HARDworking, dedicated, BEAUTIFUL and an all round A!....

I personally dont care much for Alicia keys or Mary J blige but i still respect their HUSTLE, i still listen to their music and i still admire their efforts...but i just do not get the GENERAL OVERWHELMING DISLIKE of my sweet BEE..did i miss out on the controversy she wrought on the general public..i mean daggone it!!.....

Granted Bee was everywhere this past year with endorsements, appearances at events, Performances...whatever...i think its very stupid of people to get irritated because she is endorsing so many things, What the hell is the essence of the music business, If its not to entertain (which she loves to do but people still complain) and to make profit (which is what she is doing with all her endorsements but people still complain)... she doesnt beg for the endorsements, they are offered to her!...Beyonce was the second woman on the list of forbes top 10 african american millionares and i aint mad at that....you have to hustle while you can...would you turn down the chance to make money??.....All good things things eventually come to an end, why not squeeze the hell out of it before that time comes..??...while she is still at the top.... nothing lasts forever ergo Lauryn hill(who i still have my fingers crossed for)..why not make millions why you can..makes no damn sense...

And the whole Lacefront ish...i find it really funnny because for the last 2 yrs i have been wearing braids in my hair and now i just took it all off and i am now rocking my hair and i have no intention of relaxing my hair until 6 mnths from now, so i need "something" i could wear on my head that wouldnt damage my hair, when my hair eventually gets unmanageable (which i am crossing my fingers it wont since i am really conditioning the hell out of it) ...and frankly thats what a lace front does, it allows you to grow out your hair!!!.... its just so silly that pple call her out on weave when MOST if not all of the perpetrators have weave attached to their own damn scalps!!---Besides... calling beyonce "BEYAKI" is so rude....how intelligent you must feel whilst doing so...In the entertainment industry everyone and their mama wears weave including caucasian women, why is she solely picked on???..even that rihanna's fab new haircut has tracks all up in that ish...its not humanly possible for her bangs to be long on monday and the short on wednesday and then long again on friday...hmmm..

Oh and the comparisons never end, can we Negros ever just get along???why must there only be ONE black woman doing it big, why cant alicia keys, ciara, beyonce, rihanna, et all not just exist all together without comparisons being drawn of who is the best at what...they are all in different genres of music....pick what you like and stop comparing...Beyonce is nothing like alicia keys, there is always that one person stressing that beyonce' music is too "poppy" and not deep like alicia's ...well good for you if you like alicia key's music...its just aight to me...personally i like Bee's music...why should we stop playing it just because YOU dont like it...how about you let her fans enjoy it without blessing us with your UNNEEDED and UNINVITED dirty opinions!

I know alot of blogs pick on beyonce, they put her picture up and insult her about her hair/body weight or something equally shallow all to generate rabid comments of "oh i am soo sick of her! and stuff.....if not for blogs we wouldnt know what she was up to, would we?....if everyone is so sick of her why not stop making posts about her, but they dont anyway because then they would lose their comments....

Personally as someone who has yet to Hate on anybody's hustle, people need to just practice turning down the vol when Beyonce is on tv or just looking over a post of her, thats what i do for several celebrities, there is no reason to be a pot of venom and just hate someone for the point of hating her.

In my opinion black women hating on other black women have given white bloggers the right to say disrespectful shit about Black people, i am on dlisted( i know he is asian) and he is going around calling Beyonce, Beyaki and things...??....are you serious??....and marykate and ashley whose Heads are CHOCKFULL of weave are said to have "extensions" in their hair...oh really?
....or even TMZ calling beyonce a Roboho...This is that disrespectful shit....as far as i am concerned, Bee minds her business, loves her family and is one of the best entertertainers out there ...she gives a 100% to her audience and for that i am truely appreciative, as someone who likes to do the same...i appreciate...i can tell a Bee hater a mile away and i personally dont care if you dont care much for beyonce, thats fine...but if you are someone who hates her enough to be in my face about it whilst i am trying to respect your right to dislike my sweet wonderful bee....we will definitely fight...and as always i will win. I am not going to lie my friendship is inversely proportional to how much you hate bee....if its too much, we really cant be friends.....lol....till today i am not sure if my BF likes or hates Bee, but i will never know...and thats what is important LOL...

To an extent i understand the importance of constructive criticism but sometimes you can tell that people are just taking the piss and are just trying to be unnecessarily mean, stuff like that is not cool! there is a way that you can give criticism and the person being criticised feels ENCOURAGED, i know because i have felt that way...i have been motivated and encouraged and mistakes have been pointed out in a way that you feel like you can do better but when people just say shit in a way that makes you feel discouraged, i wonder just what their purpose is....I personally feel that everyone and their mama has an opinion and people need to just take note of the people whose opinions really matter! ....On one hand you will have those people that tell you that whatever you do is GREAT! when its really not....you need someone who has Knowledge on the subject at hand and is blunt enough to tell you it sucks and wise enough to give you pointers on how to correct your mistake, thats what i think....

Lol, i am the most OPINIONATED person out there....i personally think i can do it all...if i see someone fixing a car, i just know i have to give my own opinion on the subject lol....BUT due to past circumstances of my ass being cursed out by my older siblings i have learnt the HARD WAY to how to hold myself back!..nowadays i only give my precious opinion when asked.....or provoked lol...

When we first started this Blog we had a rash of destructive criticism, which is how the comments got moderated - There are lots of cool people who rock the blog like Elle woods (who is mad funny, ur blog is soo cool) and eny and zena and a lot of other familiar people who i can tell like our product and who i know (or i think i know) would Constructively give us their opinion on cranberry when asked because they actually like what we do and are not anonymously saying whatever the hell they want and bouncing leaving only irritation and confusion like "what did we do to that stranger???"....so thanks YALLLL!! ..We are sketching and putting together the looks for our next collection and hmm..and i am soo excited....cross your fingers for us and damn THIS IS A LONG ASS BLOG! lol.

Sigh* its been a great exam free week/weekend and boy have i spent it doing ABSOLUTELY nothing! (a little bit of studying here and there but in all actuality and with a little bit of shame i admit i did almost nothing) (AS IT SHOULD BE!)
My girls came down, Abby and Ozzy and we had a very swell relaxing weekend!(AS IT SHOULD Be!)

I cannot believe class starts tommorow at 8am, with 2 exams on monday GASP!......but anyway before i get caught up in school and its crraaazinesssssss...i want to blog a little bit about nothing and everything!

First of all, we FINALLY printed out our business cards, i know i know! very late of us lol but still it was always impossible to come up with one we actually liked...plus... with the help of my veryyy efficient older sister Juliet (who is like clockwork) we had it done in like a week and she designed it and others herself and this is the one we chose! love it! its very cranberry, dont you think?

Speaking of Juliet, she does like the cutest cupcakes ever and she is also awesome at party planning! No cranberry and Caven event is absent of her touch! Her cupcakes are fun, fab and muy deliciouso!! I constantly encourage her to go into business cus she loves doing it and when you love doing something and you can actually "do" it lol, the sky is the limit!!

Hello Ladies,
Being in school is literally the dumps, after weeks and weeks of exam filled mondays, i FINALLY have a free monday, so i am basically freeeeee to be meeee....and boy, AM I pleased!i

Anyway i have read the comments and N.O cranberry's closet doesnt refer to me listing out every item we all posess! Nice try guys lol!
It actually refers to all the clothes we have made thus far...clothes that we love ...and HATE to part with sigh!... clothes that have graced runways and photoshoots, sigh*...we were planning a mini sample sale of this such items, its going to be in DC and we are also going to add the new garments we have made as well...most you haven't seen yet.....so... for those who heart cranberry, its going to be a really REALLY fun afternoon sample sale with cupcakes and clothes...but that is still in works considering that we all have to agree on a free weekend...I will volunteer more information for this event as we put it together....thanks for patiently waiting!

...So, today Joan and I set projects for ourselves..to relentlessly scour the net to find awesome clothes for awesome prices..Joan for $50 or less, me for $100 or less... I have to take time out to commend Joan on doing a great jabby jab cos er...finding nice clothes under $50 aint so easy!!! You would think that shopping with a budget of at least $100 should result in some extremely nice items, but Im often shocked at people with great salaries, and busted wardrobes...*sigh*..... Anyways in my little experiment, I tried to avoid stores like Bebe, Arden B, and friends because if you have $100 to spend on an item, you can definitely walk in those stores and find something affordable and cute, so instead I tried to find great deals in places people might not regularly think to shop at and also great sales that may be going on at this time. Winter gear - Each of these coats are very cute, the brown being my absolute fave. The gray military style Jacket is another. I love jackets that have character and try my best to stay away from the generic black coats and such. Having a fabulous winter jacket is such a necessity because if youre forced to be in it 24/7 while still freezing your butt off (whats up with that?), you might as well look good!!

Spring dresses - Summer is a few, painful months away!! But its never too early to stock up on dresses! Actually, most of us probably still rock dresses to parties and stuff albiet the weather (women are such die hards; how can a man come all covered up and warm whilst we're almost catching pneumonia trying to look good?)

This billowy mocha shirt-dress can be transformed from casual day to night if you wear it sans tights and a pair of hot heels! okay i admit i dont remember the price, but its from Urban Outfitters and I promise its under 100, if not 50 dollars!; This black simple mini dress is so simple yet chic...i love the details like the inverted pleat on the front and back. $66 from Nordstrom; This draped mini dress is very cute and can be both casual and dressy if accessorized the right way..$64 LaMixx; The white lace dess i think is just adorable, looks very easy on and looks great against dark skin. $58 from 80spurple.com

Shoes - Im horribly picky when it comes to shoes...It takes a lot for me to fall in love with a pair of shoes. First of all my main problem is that I am inexplicably drawn to expensive shoes. If you give me a box of 500 shoes, the one that I would pick from the litter ALWAYS turns out to be the most expensive!!! Its such a pain in the butt, believe me it aint cute when ure on a students budget! I love shoes to have something different about them, I cant just buy a pair of shoes from steve madden and call it a day..so all my shoes are always wierd and odd looking, and i LOVE it!!! so i tried to tone my 'taste' down a little so they can somewhat appeal to everyone else, but anyways here are my shoe choices!!

L -R : The first shoes are sooo me...i love sling backs and i love the comfortable kitten heels.. $78 from shopbop.com; I'm totally in love with these flats..i already ordered em both in black and grey! They are comfortable yet extremely chic, and not typical $64 shopbop.com; If youre into oxfords, then you will definitely love these; im of the humble opinion that oxfords are the only boots that can get away with being worn with dresses..they look so good in tights and skinnies as well...the first one is from dolce vita (nice shoes and great prices!) $70, and the darker ones are even more affordable at $44; Theres nothing like a nice pair of loafers... and these are definitely a steal. Lauren Label by Ralph Lauren, on sale for $75!! If you shop at Ralph Lauren you know what a ridiculous steal this is! Loafers are great 'knock about' shoes; without having to resort to wearin flipflops all the time.

Accessories:
When it comes to jewellery, i have the less is more mentality. Id rather rock a pair of fantabulous earrings and leave my neck bare than to overload jewellery on every available limb on my body. Thats why i fell in love with this bracelet from J.Crew. Chunky jewellery is in style right now, and a big chunky bracelet compliments most outfits greatly, and you wont need any other arm jewellery!
I found this clutch at pookie & sebastian - an NYC based store with great deals. Very simple, I love brown chocolate distressed leather especially when worn with black.

I think ive spent as much time as I can infront of a computer screen without exploding!! So im going to rest my ever deteriorating eyes ( - 6 and couting..) now! Goodnight all!

If you think you are going to see that designer bag you have been eyeing on Mary-Kate's shoulder for a week now, this is not the place for you...you can probably find that somewhere in New York either at Bergdorf's or in Canal Street..

If you think you are going to see a fab pair of Louboutins on this list..think again...they didn't birth me a magician unfortunately..

Basically don't dream of seeing anything that has a designer label attached to it because those items are rarely ever under 50 bucks unless you want to buy a pair of socks just because they are "designer".

You know how the saying goes...

"A decorated gorrilla is still a gorrilla" ?
That is to say, in lay mans terms; there is no amount of baffs that u can wear in the world that can take the attention away from your beauty, or lackthere of. Therefore, call me shallow but I think looks is one of the most important things in the world. Now im not just talkin a girl who was born with a pretty face or a flawless bone structure (we take heifers like that with a grain of salt and keep on truckin' lol) Im talking someone who takes the time and effort to TAKE CARE of themselves and groom their looks. Believe me, if you dont have to be naturally pretty to look good. If you take great care of your skin and hair, you will look way better than a naturally pretty girl who falls prey to "PGS".

PGS - Pretty Girl Syndrome; usually a girl who has been told one time too many how pretty she is, to the point where she believes her own hype and fails to maintain her beauty because she thinks she is just beautiful no matter what.

I have witnessed the downfall of many. ..When you start to hear "Oh wow...she USED TO BE so cute...etc.." PGS strikes again lol.

Anyways in my spare time aka all the time, i obsess over new products and skin care regimens and hair care regimens in order to er..'preserve my sexy' as diddy eloquently put it. Im a bit of a health and beauty junkie, although i dont always follow my own sound advice lol.

Skin care:

First and foremost the most important thing for your skin, which im sure uve heard a million times already is drinking as much water as u possibly can. Im not one of those people who was blessed with naturally great skin, so i have to work hard to keep it as clear as i can!!

Now when it comes to products its pretty much diff strokes for different folks, because people have varying skin types ranging from dry to oily, and people react to things differently. Its very important to have a facewash AND moisturizer, because if you dont moisturize your skin becomes more oily because it is forced to produce its own oil to battle the dryness of your skin. As tempting as it may be..NEVER SLEEP WITH YOUR MAKE UP ON!! seriously..talk about clogging your pores.

If ur looking to spend $ - $$
I pretty much swear by Neutrogena for my face wash and visibly even or their oil free moisture with spf. Please people spf is not only for white folks oh, everyone needs as much protection from the sun as they can get.

You should use a scrub at least once a week or every 2 weeks if you have sensitive skin. It is important to get rid of dead skin cells on the layer of your face, and it gives u a glow and a better complexion, AND ur skin feels baby soft. I think the unanimous best scub is St Ives apricot scrub, but I also tried a new neutrogena scrub pad over the break, that felt really great as well. However, do not overscrub!! there is nothing worse than aggravating your skin.

Another line of products i can vouch for through friends experiences and such is Aveeno and also the body shop's tea tree oil line. I personally didnt think it did much for me, but I like their blue corn facial mask.

I personally dont like dove for anything other than my deodorants. The moisturizer is too thick in my opinion and stays on the surface and doesnt really permeate into your skin, and i dont like the feeling of residue from the washes either.

For those willing to shell out the $$ - $$$
ELIZABETH ARDEN ALL THE WAY baby! LOL..no but seriously...Elizabeth Arden products leave u feeling all soft and gooey and womanly!! nuff said!

The most important thing is finding a regimen that works for YOU and playing around to see how ur skin reacts to certain products which is mostly by trial and error (which can either be a blessing or a real disaster!) It is kinder to your skin to stick to a line of products than mixing and matching, IMHO!

Oh and...SMOKIN...is TERRIBLE for your skin. I dont get what the fascination is with smoking, and why it seems that every time i see a nigerian girls picture (esp in london..yeah i said it!!!) there seems to be a ciggarette perched delicately between her fingers. I guess it must be one of the many 'in' things..or peer pressure..who knows. But i dont understand why anyone would want to smoke when it does absolutely NOTHING for you...it blackens your lips...gives u bad skin...BAD breath (i had a teacher who was a smoker...i had to hold my breath everytime she came near me)..and it doesnt even make you high!!! At least smoke weed or shisha if you really need the sensation of smoke filling your lungs...at least it comes with perks!!

Some ghetto skin tips (lol the kind u find out by mistake)
SHELLY - Im not goin to lie to you...shelly might remind u of your housegirl or those razz women that use it to bleach, but shelly really works wonders when u dab it overnight on a spot.

Neosporin - for those ladies who like to pick at their skin when they get an annoying pimple. Neosporin clears it up because when you pick at your skin, you can turn it into more like a wound than a pimple.

rubbing alchohol - LOL...okay...when i was in about ss3 or so...i got the WORST flare up of acne ever...out of nowheer..and i wanted to DIE! (Yes this is me - flaws and all!!) I went through just about anything that u can think of from pills to proactiv, to every benzoyl peroxide product there is on the market. And one day, i said u know what...f it....and i threw all those chemical things away that do little better than dry your skin till you look like prune. AND i met this dermatologist guy on a flight one...and we got talking, and he said you know what...im going to tell you something... he told me to get a little bottle. Fill it up halfway with rubbing alchohol, and dilute it to the brim with water...and dab it on my face like 5- 6 times a day or as often as i could... and i was like...ight...so i did it...and i keed you not...in like 2 weeks i had not a pimple on my face, and aside from the occasional period breakout that we women must suffer...i dont get random acne anymore can i say ALLELUUUUUUUUJAH!!!!! LOL...but please...combine this with a SERIOUS moisturizer.....can u say DRYING out ur skin sheesh?!

Ive heard about other myths like lemon juice on your lips to make them pinker, and those *blackened* knees and elbows that we blacks are known to suffer from, apparently it lightens them up. I havent tried it meself but its just part of my far and wide gathered knowlege...
AND i also heard that pure black soap (dudu osun, but PURE) is like a Godsend for ur skin, havent tried it but I might make a lab rat out of myself soon..all in the pursuit of beauty abi?

Glycerin & Rosewater - Makes ur skin baby soft when its used like a cleanser/toner (applied with a cotton pad) after you wash ur face. It really brings out a "glow" in your complexion lol, and makes ur skin feel sooooooo nice!

Phew!!! Okay im tired now, as im sure u are of reading this post so im going to take a breather and *maybe* get ready for school tomorrow...seriously who lives in NY...this weather is beyond RIDIC!! Im almost fainting from the thought of commuting at 9am tomorrow...all in favor of MLK week say aye....

This blog "segment" lol, is in response to an anonymous suggestion that we answer questions anyone has on clothes and shopping, decorating...life, love, beauty secrets...LIFE IN GENERAL... I think it would be quite a fun exercise!
I am no guru or stylist to the stars (This is a disclaimer!!..I know someone is like "WHAT DOES SHE EVEN KNOW SEF" lol)... but it never hurts to hear another person's opinion....If anyone wants to ask about ANYTHING, we would be very happy to assist you in any way we can!

@ Bebewa darling, thanks for your comment!Our clothes will hit the market, hopefully end of this year or early next year. We currently do the work ourselves for the promotional aspect BUT to go commercial, we are in works to get efficient help in terms of tailors who can better produce finished work .. we have to have sizing,distribution,fit and durability lol all figured out!We feel that its better to get everything organized and in place before we jump into the markets, there is nothing worse than selling a product that cannot stand the test of time.And when I sew i freestyle ( i dont even own a body) i fit the clothes on myself, which is why they have a GREAT fit, Ozzy on the other hand is in parsons and so she is getting a great education in pattern making and draping (which she has to teach me soon lol)..She says that using patterns makes it soo much easier and more finished, so i encourage you to get a pattern for the next garment you decide to sew!Hope i helped!!Kisses!

Cranberry Fashion Watch/ Bad girls club

So this is officially my first "style watch" in 08! YAY!

What i like to do, as you all know...is to feature lovely ladies who I personally believe WEAR CLOTHES. There is a difference between wearing clothes and WEARING CLOTHES. Make a note of that.

I love innate style, confidence and glamour...the thing with fashion is that...its very very very easy to take a WRONG turn, its a very intimate and detail oriented..sport..lol... which is why i appreciate seeing clothes "WORK" on people...LAYERING is one of the hardest things to do...and one of the ugliest fashion faux pas to behold if it goes wrong...i wish i could insert an example on here but i am too chicken to do that...i don't want to get jumped in a dark alley....not with this bone structure! lol

I wish i had the patience, time and energy to start a street style blog...sigh*..too busy...meanwhile.... me thinks i just have to scratch that itch by making my Lil ol style lists on this here blog...

Since i am a MILITANTLY AFRICAN, especially on fridays, i decided to focus solely on my African ladies, who i MUST say, are doing it!!

Who says we wear leaves and walk around bare chested?! That damn national geographic channel!!!..

Marian, a stylist is bringing the heat with her fashion combinations. I am a sucker for jewel toned clothing and that blue is blinding, loves it! The shoes are awesome!; Look 2 is more casual , i like buttoned down sweaters over cotton dresses or dress shirts and the shoes are lovely!; i love look 3, the hat, purse, the flats, very cool...work it bebe!!

Loza is chic, Look 1 ; the jacket with the buttoned down sweater, thats hot, look 2; that dress is molten, loves it and look threee is more casual and interesting, i really like the shape of the shorts, awesome.

Temi is working fall chic to the bone. I loveee that first sweater, the boots, the yellow dress, the stocked shoeeesiess sigh*, in look 2, i love that jacket, its soo me, i want it! and the last look is just casual chic, the red beret and cream scarf, loves it!

This is my MINI fashion style watch list featurinnnnnng my favourite fashionable girlies, Ivie and Imade (Ozzy's Cousin's) ...Fabulous has no age limit honies!!

Imade is just stylish period, in look 1, she is all glammed up in her very vintageesque cocktail dress, and the shoes are sooo cute, with her 1940s coif, so cute. Look 2, HER BELT (and i dont like belts) is awesome..the deep blue color with the gold clasp paired with her cheetah top,skirt and red sandals is very casual and cool, loves it!..her third look is also casual, i love her hand bag...I personally loveee dress shirts, with chunky gold chains, and skinnies...very casual chic....she is just soo cute...

Ivieeeeeee, my sweetie...i love her style, its very chic, alternative and rock....Look 1, 2 and 3 work...love ivie! she is trying HARD to be like ME HAHA!!!

Now that THAT is over, How is everyone doing?!!!, School has officially started, i have about 20.5 credits, which translates into - Dee's ASS is officially Effed!...blogging will be choppy and in all honesty i am meant to be studying Physiology earnestly but i AM Bored damnit! who cares about the permeabilty of plasma membranes when i can flip through pictures on style.com.

I hope everyone has stuck to their resolutions so far, i know i sure haven't!

I firmly believe in politely cutting people out. Kinda harsh, but you cant make someone who doesnt like you, like you, especially when you have only been nothing but kind to them...ask about me, i was brought up to have respect for people and to be nice and friendly, anyone who says otherwise does not know me.....

At the end of the day, everyone has their own fair share of insecurities, but unfortunately, some are dealt a heavier blow, and as always they remain in my prayers.

So in summary, watch what you say and whom you say it to, because the most wicked thing to do, is give someone a nice chunk of juicy jist that You Yourself couldnt keep to your own damn self and then expect the person to not tell...JUST one person...and the cycle begins again...lol...so er...in the worrrds of the Roots, dont say nothing!

Hey guys!!

Hope Christmas was as fun for you all as it was for me. Anyway…New Year’s is around the corner and I cannot wait to meet up with my girlies again in New York. Gosh I cannot believe how fast this year went by…I mean I remember new year’s day as if it was just yesterday...sheeshh! I know I’m not the only person that feels this way!

Anyway…I was having this conversation with my Nigerian male friends recently about the kind of girls they thought were cute and obviously a huge argument started. However, it wasn’t so much of us arguing about the girls they thought were cute..I mean I have heard it one too many times that non-black chics are hotter than black chics...I have come to accept that the world thinks this way and even though I beg to differ, I am just one person. Yeah anyway…the argument started when we decided to tell these dudes that white guys were just as hot as your average black men…partly to push their buttons of course. I’m not even going to go into the drama that took place but yeah..there was drama…a whole lotta!

Seriously though, I am always confused when I feel vicious angry stares from black dudes whenever I am on a date with someone that is not black…like aren’t we as black women allowed to date other races or are we designated to only date men from our own race? I mean I remember hanging out with my male model friend in NYC (who I guess unfortunately for me happened to be a white guy) and being barraged by black dudes everywhere we went to. Dudes trying to constantly downplay the dude…talking about how white dudes can’t dance, how I needed to be with a reeeaaaaal man...hmmm….okkk. I think the worst comment I heard so far was that black girls like white dudes because of their money. KAI! Well, I guess we are prostitutes then. I mean, like honey it is not that serious though….I like fine boys period…black, white, Spanish, Asian….if you are fine I like you…I don’t discriminate. I just do not understand why my being with a white dude who is not any richer than any of the black dudes I date is a way of trying to uhh…get money. Maybe someone can explain it to me because I am just not getting it.

On the record….I do not feel anyhow about black guys dating non-black chics…I mean damn….like every single uncle of mine is married to some European woman and living somewhere in Europe…the only thing that affects me is when people don’t appreciate beauty in everyone and only see a certain race as more beautiful than the other. It is irritating as hell dammit.

Phew…finished with that! Okkk...saw the Great debaters on Christmas day and I must say that it is an awesome movie. I am so proud of all the people that were in it because they all did a great job. I cried once…it was too much for me…had to shed a few tears for the oppressed. I hope all these young children watch these movie and see and understand what their ancestors did for them. As Denzel’s character in the movie (Melvin Tolson) says, "I'm here to help you find and keep your righteous mind."

I was really impressed with Jurnee Smollett in the movie. Chic can act and it doesn’t hurt that she is cute. I have been following her since Full House….I even used to watch her during Cadbury breakfast Television on her show (with her 101 siblings) On Our own. Loved her in Eve’s bayou (loved Meagan Good there too) and then she kinda fizzled out. Till I saw her again in Roll Bounce I think with Bow wow and then here she is acting with Denzel. I wish her the best of luck and I hope she makes it big because she is an amazing actress!
